Homework

Tonight is our first night that homework is not a math page. We spent a great deal of time discussing what we are to do tonight when we get home. In case that message does not get relayed to you, here is what is expected.

Today we practiced short o, u & e vowel words. In their reading journal we glued pictures of those words. They are to write two sentences for short o, two for short u, two for short e on the piece of loose leaf that is located in the reading journal. We also talked about capitalization & punctuation.

May Crowning

Tomorrow is the first day of May!   May is the month that we honor Mary and celebrate how she said "yes" to God! It helps us to remember to also say yes to God.  There are several activities that you can do as a family on the May Crowning page.  I hope you have a beautiful time celebrating Mary be sure to  send pictures of any celebrations you may have at home.

Happy Easter

Happy Easter!

We have sacrificed many things over the past month.  It has been stressful and confusing.  The news that we received last week was especially difficult.  I am heartbroken that I will not be able to return to school, be with my students, or to enjoy the special endings of second grade.  I have spent 22 years in second grade and the months between March and May are the “magic months.” It is during this time all of our hard work comes together and the children start to see their own progress. Things that they couldn’t do before suddenly come easily. They become more independent, confident and of course taller! While I am missing these “magic months” with them, you as their first and most important teacher have a front row seat!
With that being said, I pray that we will all stay safe and healthy. Please know that I am here for you and for your child. If you are needing additional resources, please let me know what your specific need is and I can do the research for you.

We will continue remote learning April 14th until May 15th.  Feel free to email me if you have any questions or concerns.

God Bless,
Ms. Dallmeyer

Hey 2D Friends! Below is the Reading Counts quiz link. Those orange reading books that you have, you know the ones that were SO HEAVY in your back pack! They are filled with stories that you can read and a lot of them have quizzes that you can take. If you take a quiz on it be sure to click on the one that says anthology next to it. Anthology means that it is in a collection of other stories.

Checking In (email 3/18)

Thank you in advance for your understanding.  This is a wild journey we are on at this time.  I'm sure we are all feeling overwhelmed and anxious.  My brain is on overload.  I have updated my blog, and there is a lot of information on it for you and our learners. Please understand that this new for me as well and if a link doesn’t I’m sorry. Let me know and I will try to fix it, and when I say “fix it” it may just get deleted!
Based on the energy level yesterday I know to them, this may seem like a vacation and they shouldn't be doing anything school related while they are home.  However, this is not a vacation.  I told them they wouldn't have to tuck their shirt, they could wear their pj's, any socks they wanted, they could even sit on their feet while in their chair! LOL! But our learning was going to look a little different for the time being.
Please know that I am here for you and your child! I am needing to know that you are receiving these emails, so if you could reply with a simple “Got it” then I will know who I need to reach out to in a different way. Look at it as a Day 1 roll call.

God never gives us more than we can handle.  I will pray for your family during this time.  I ask that you pray for mine and the rest of the world.  Please take this unimaginable time off to reconnect with those around you.  The hustle and bustle of daily life can take a toll on the family. Find the positives in the journey.

God Bless,

Tanya Dallmeyer
