We have successfully completed our first spelling test of second grade! When you are reviewing the test, you will see that it is a story that is missing ten words. I read the story as they follow along. I then go back over the story, this time I call the number and say the word, and they fill in the blank. Once we have filled in all of the blanks, I read the story one more time, and they are to follow along, paying close attention to the end of the sentence and the beginning of the next sentence. (The difference between a period and a comma was noted during the reading.) The additional five words came from the 35 words that were introduced during first grade. These are also words that they are accountable for in second grade. If your child missed any words, I circled them on the spelling page located in the BEE Folder (bright blue). It would be very beneficial if these words were practiced each week until they are mastered. We will have another five words tomorrow, and we will test on Friday. It is important to remember that we are practicing to be lifelong spellers, not Friday test spellers. The words we tested today will pop up again in other spelling tests.
